MARK WILD
1957
Written by Don "Jawge" George, Class of 1959
Mark was one of the original Turtles on the old campus of Carthage. He married Jackie
Edwards (Class of 58) who has passed away. Mark moved around a lot! After graduation he
attended the Minneapolis Seminary for 3 years during which he worked in a psychiatric
hospital. After the seminary he moved back to Wisconsin as an assistant pastor in Waukesha.
From church work he became a Probation Officer and received a Masters in Social Work from
the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He became the Chief Juvenile Probation Officer in
Waukesha and then a Mental Health Consultant for the State of Wisconsin. In 1968 he moved
to California to become a Psychiatric Social Worker at the Camarillo State Hospital and ended
his working career at Big Brothers of Greater Los Angeles until he retired in 2000.
"Psycho" moved to the mountains of California but is now away from the cold at Pismo
Beach in central Calif. Mark and Karel (a former grade school teacher from Michigan) have
been married for 34 years and along with their 3 boys and a girl are enjoying the warm
weather. He is still active as a volunteer at the Day Shelter for the Homeless. Golf, reading,
and developing the Central Coast Puzzle Exchange ( for people interested in jigsaw puzzles)
keep him busy along with spending time with one granddaughter who lives in Los Angeles.
By the way, our TEX brother almost made it in the movies at Universal Studio but starting out
as a mail boy wasn't his idea of fun.
