In Memorium – Clayton Diskerud

Don Henderson reports that Clayton Diskerud passed away on October 22. Click HERE for his obituary.

Don emailed:

Just heard from Kay (Waukie), Gorsk and Dokmo that Clayton Diskerud died
on Saturday.  I first met Clayt when Gorsk, Eyes and I took a road trip in
the summer of1954 to Riverdale, North Dakota to visit Diskie.  Clayton was
then in high school.  Diskie took us to downtown Riverdale where we were
the hit with the girls driving in my convertible.  His dad was an engineer
on the dam being built there.  About 50 years later Judy and I came
through there on a home bound trip from out west – couldn’t identify many
things then.

I took Clayton under my wing when he was a freshman and we raided the
Culver Stockton campus in Missouri.  Later at one of the Alumni Reunions
he was teaching a class on the Lewis and Clark Trip and I attended it.
Judy and I followed it for three years.  I remember Clayt saying, “Some
people compared it to going to the moon, but L & C didn’t know anything
about where they were going.”  I will miss Clayton!!!

Did not get to know him well, but do remember him as a bright educator and really nice person. In my opinion, he was also a great representative of how good TEX could really be. Rest in peace, Clayton.
